There is a bus stop directly outside of our entrance gates, and across the road from us. There is then a walk down the drive.

The number 3 Southern Vectis bus runs along this route. You can find their timetable online.

By foot:

If you wish to reach us by foot, there are a number of public footpaths that will lead to the Sanctuary. You can see a full map of pathways here.

Around the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary's site

Apart from the fields, the pathways around the centre of the sanctuary are a mixture of tarmac, concrete and gravel. There is a slight gradient towards one of the barns. The pathways between the fields can be muddy, depending on the weather. There is plenty of seating around the centre, but none in the barns or fields.

2 wheelchairs are available to borrow at your own risk. Please ask our welcome hosts when you arrive for more information.

Toilets

There are toilets in the café, including an accessible toilet.

Café

There is a ramp leading to the café, with handrails on both sides. The café has wide doors at the entrance and the floor is flat. The chairs are all moveable.

There is picnic bench seating outside in the courtyard.

The service is self-service. If you have difficulty carrying a tray, our helpful colleagues will carry it for you.

Gift Shop

The shop is accessed by 2 doors and there is ample room to manoeuvre a wheelchair or scooter inside. There is a lower counter for serving people who cannot reach the higher counter.

Barns

All the barns have concrete floors so are easily accessible for people with mobility disabilities and for wheelchair users.
