IOW Donkey Sanctuary Café
The award-winning café is a beautiful rustic barn, converted in 2019 at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, overlooking the Wroxall valleys, where you may be able to spot the donkeys in their paddocks.
If there's no room at the 'Inn' (donkey joke, kind of), then there's plenty of seating out in the courtyard or to the back of the café.
There is also the Wildlife Meadows, where you can sit amongst nature with your own picnic (or takeaway café food).

Café - est. 2019
The café is a fairly new addition to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. We converted one of our old barns, which is where the old Doris' Department Store was housed. This was a small 'bric a brac' area, where people would kindly bring in their unwanted treasures. However, it needed a member of staff to monitor it, and it was costing us more to keep open than what was coming in. The other part of the barn was used for storage, but we realised the potential of a new cafe for our visitors!
The existing cafe and shop (which is now where the gift shop is) started to become a bit of a squeeze for our daily visitors, so the planning process began to convert the old barn into somewhere rustic and beautiful where people could relax and enjoy a bite to eat, whilst looking out over the Wroxall valley.
The 'barn to café' conversion was a carefully considered project. All the stonework needed re-pointing and there was a lot of internal structural work that was needed. Building started in late 2019, and it has been very welcomed amongst our visitors!
There's no need to book to eat at the café, however if you have an event or wish to discuss something special, please get in touch.
